If our combined experience were measured in negative Fahrenheit, we'd be the same temperature as dry ice.

Scott Bosier

Senior Pastor

Family: Wife – Renee (Married 28 years), Son – Scott, Jr.

Education: Bachelor of Music from University of South Florida; Master of Music from DePaul University; Master of Theology from Truett McConnell University.

Background: I’m a military brat who has lived in Florida, Texas, Virginia, Massachusetts, and the Netherlands. Actor/Athlete until I studied to become an opera singer! I sang for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Skylight Opera Theater in Milwaukee, Muddy River Opera, da Corneto Opera, Atlanta Opera Company… until God changed the tune when my son was born. I settled in Waleska for the past seventeen years and have served as Pastor of Shoal Creek for nine of those years.

I was saved in a non-denominational Christian Church, Renee and I met at an Independent Baptist Church, worshipped in Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Assemblies of God, Evangelical Free Churches…wherever the Holy Spirit of God is… that’s where I want to worship. Throughout all those churches and denominations, I’ve been worship leader, music ministry, small group leader, Sunday school teacher, and even the youth pastor – some times all at once!

Music: Verdi, Sting and the Police, Chopin, Petra, the Beatles, Matt Maher, Mozart, Weird Al Yankovich, Bach…

Movies: The Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Bourne and Bond movies. Stranger than Fiction, Braveheart, What about Bob, The Greatest Showman, and Big Trouble in Little China. Sci-Fi, Western, Eastern, Comedy, Drama, Thriller, Suspense… All the above.

Favorite quote? "Because we love something else more than this world, we love even this world better than those who know no other." — C.S. Lewis, God in The Dock

Favorite character Harold Crick in the movie Stranger Than Fiction. Harold has the courage to simply trust the author of the story, even when that means sacrificing his life for another (sound familiar?).

Favorite Scripture: "Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

A few of my favorite things: Time Off: Spending time with my family. Drink: water with Mio (Preferably Blue Thunder or Black Cherry) Food: Pizza. Color: Red. Place: Anywhere that God has made.

Christiaan Funkhouser

Education: I have a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Southern Polytechnic State University.  I earned a Master of Divinity specializing in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Background:  Homeschooled. Radio talk show host. Music DJ, Newspaper columnist. Had a nationally syndicated talk show host make fun of me on the radio. I’ve worked in marketing, purchasing, and, retail.

In ministry: When I was a child the pastor raised me up like in the Lion King and prophesied over me that I would bring healing to my generation. My family has been part of all sorts of denominations from Baptist to Quaker. I’ve served in churches and ministries across the southeast and internationally doing everything from cleaning toilets and helping prevent gang fights to being a Children’s director.

Favorite quote:
Frodo: 'I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.'

Gandalf: 'So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides that of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."

Favorite character: Boromir son of Denethor. Boromir was a valiant, strong, selfless, and the most human of all the fellowship. He screwed up. He made mistakes. But he made them in hopes of doing right. He ultimately sacrificed his life in his attempt to atone for his past mistakes.

Favorite scripture: "Come now, and let us reason together," says the Lord, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18.
